My Reason Why

Music has always been the thing that made me feel seen and heard.

I haven’t always been the best at explaining how I feel or why I am the way I am, but when I heard the right song, suddenly I didn’t feel so alone. I could pick apart the lyrics, sit with the emotion, and feel like maybe somebody out there understood something I didn’t know how to say yet. That’s what kept me chasing music in the first place.

And when I started writing, that became the whole point for me.

I want a teenage girl who feels insecure to hear one of my songs and feel like everything might be okay. I want someone going through heartbreak to feel a little stronger in the middle of their sadness. I want people to laugh, cry, heal, and feel understood. Life is hard a lot of the time, and I think music can help us carry that.

At the end of the day, making people feel better is what brings me joy. If I can do that through music, then I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.

My name is Hannah Owens, and this is my fundraising campaign.

Up 'Til Now

Music has been part of my life for a long time. I sang as a child, spent four years on a TV show when I was young, and later started touring in a duo called Wandering Daisy with Erica Perry Hamilton. We played around the Southwest and had the chance to open for Asleep at the Wheel.

In 2017, I picked up the guitar and pretty quickly started playing my own shows and singing songs I had written. I recorded my first record in 2020, and after the delays of the pandemic, released it in late 2021. That record got a strong write-up in the Fort Worth Weekly, and my song “Chemical Warfare” got some love from The Ranch.

In 2024, I released “Kites,” a song I wrote during the pandemic that felt like an escape at the time. It led to another Fort Worth Weekly write-up, and “Kites” won Best Song of the Year, while I was honored to win Best Singer-Songwriter of the Year in the Fort Worth Weekly awards.

Later that year, I released “State I’m In” and started doing more full-band shows at places like Magnolia Motor Lounge, Rusty Nickel, and Twilite Lounge. I’ve also played solo shows in New Mexico, Florida, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, and here in Texas I’ve performed at venues like Lola’s Saloon, Tannahill’s, Arlington Music Hall, and The Post. I’ve also played local events including the Fort Worth Songwriters Festival and sung harmonies on records for artists like Andrew Sevener, Erica Perry, and Kat Hasty.

What I've Been Working On

Now I’m working on my first full-length record — a project that really feels like the next chapter for me. It has some of the sad songs people know me for, but also some love songs and some joy in it too. It feels more complete. More honest. More like me.

To make this record have the resources it needs to succeed, I’ve partnered with Edgewater Music Group. We already have major-label distribution lined up for the project, which means there’s a real path for this music to go further than anything I’ve done before.

The Challenge

But making a real move in the music industry is expensive — especially as an independent artist. Recording, musicians, production, mixing, mastering, visuals, promotion, release costs… all of it adds up fast. And like most artists at my level, I’ve been carrying as much of that as I can on my own.

That’s why I’m asking for your support.
